As the kids in our Clubhouse will tell you – it definitely DOES take money to make money – even when it’s for a good cause.

Here you will find all the links and help you need to raise money, apply for money, spend money and use your money for your good!

It’s important to understand what type of business to be when you are on a mission like yours!

Kids (or grown-ups too) that want to use their money to create change in the world and give back are called Philanthropists. Some famous philanthropists you might know of are people like Oprah Winfrey, John Rockefeller, Milton Hershey or even people like Beyonce and Angelina Jolie. Just like your main” job”  is a student, they have other jobs too but they give a lot of their money to help good causes. They do this giving through organizations they have created called 501c3.

Even though it sounds like one, a 501c3 is not a robot from Star Wars.

It means being approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, charitable organization. “Charitable” is broadly defined as being established for purposes that are religious, educational, charitable, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering of national or international amateur sports, or prevention of cruelty to animals and children.

Are you wondering if you should become a 501c3 Charity? The answer is most definitely YES!

Thanks to our partnership with the law firm of Foley & Lardner, Daisy Button has recently started a 501c3 branch and this is a really important task for you too! It can feel like a big undertaking but we can help you so make sure to reach out to us if you need it.  You can click here for a link to common questions about how to get started. Also, you can and should be raising money for your cause. Taking donations, selling things you make, can drives, bake sales and car washes. All those funds can be going into your work and all of them can help make your mission grow and grow.

Think of things like what these groups do:

Sell Cookies

Sell Clothes

Entertain Families

How can you raise your own money?
