NFL Player Launches Read with Malcolm
Cooper, I know about your love for football and especially anything dealing with the NFL, so I thought you would like this article that I found about a New England Patriots player named Malcolm Mitchell who created a Charity called Read with Malcolm.
His charity is dedicated to promoting the benefits of books to students in underserved communities. He was just awarded the Promise Hero Award from America’s Promise Alliance during its 20th Anniversary Summit and Gala in New York City last month.
Malcolm had his own problems with reading and wants to help other who have similar struggles. When he went to college at the University of Georgia he quickly realized he struggled with reading. He knew he needed to do something, so he started from scratch reading children’s books and teaching himself to read better and faster.
Read with Malcolm’s goals are to introduce book ownership to students in homes where reading is not a priority and to improve reading in schools with grade level reading skills that are below average.
Cooper you probably know this, but Malcolm graduated from college in December 2015 with a degree in communications, was drafted by the Patriots in the 4th round last May and has now written a book entitled “The Magician’s Hat.”
Malcolm’s personal message is “Reading can change the world and change people’s lives.”
Sounds like a great message!
