Humane Society Kids Camps

I wanted to let everyone know about a summer camp that I went to last week put on by the Humane Society. It was so much fun playing with the animals. I also learned about taking care of animals, their behavior and careers working with animals.

They also have a monthly program called Kids Club for kids ages 7 – 12 years old that meets during the school year. Kids can participate in just one class or for the whole season.

What sounded fun to me was a Reading to Shelter Pets Program. They told me that reading helps to calm pets down and shows them that kids care about them. Kids can bring their own book, or choose one from their bookcase to read to their cats, dogs and bunnies. While dog and small wonders cages cannot be entered, children can actually sit with their cats and kittens to read!

The Humane Society also has Community Service Projects for Kids that include making toys or organizing a donation drive.

If anyone is as interested in helping animals as I am, you may want to check out their website to learn more about how to get involved.
