NBA Finals and NBA Cares

Hey everyone, so the NBA Finals are in full swing with the Golden State Warriors winning the second game in the series last night against the Cavaliers.  Although it’s no surprise that the Warriors and Cavaliers are battling it out for the Championship Again, as it is the fourth consecutive year that these two teams have gone head to head in the finals.

What is a surprise was Steph Curry and the rest of the defending NBA Champs providing court drama last night as they crushed LeBron James and the Cavs 122-103.

Steph Curry made history by Breaking the Record for the most 3 pointers in a Finals game, set by Ray Allen for the Boston Celtics in game 2 of the 2010 Championship Series. Curry scored 9 – 3 pointers with a total of 33 points in all.

As the two-time winner of the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, Curry also contributed eight assists and seven rebounds.

But it wasn’t just the Curry show.  He had help from his entire eight-man rotation with Kevin Durant contributing 26 points, Klay Thompson had 20 points and even center JaVale McGee scoring 12.

LeBron James wasn’t quite as dominant as he was in Game 1, but he still put up 29 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds.  Cleveland did everything they could in the first 3 quarters to slow down the Warriors but the impact of Curry’s explosion in the fourth quarter was so extreme that Cleveland pulled its starters with more than 4 minutes left in the game.

While I was watching the game, a story from NBA Cares came on talking about as part of the NBA Finals 2018, the Golden State Warriors helped open a new NBA Cares Learn & Play Zone at the Boys and Girls Club in San Leandro, CA last Friday.

The Warriors players, executives, as well as NBA and WNBA legends, unveiled 3 newly renovated spaces which include a multi-purpose room, teen room, and garden, which will provide youth with a safe place to play and explore their educational interests.

This marks the 1,174th  ~ Live, Learn and Play Space created by the NBA family.

Way to Go NBA!  I will continue watching the NBA Finals to see who wins!
